Seijiro (Seiji) Yoshihara
Graduate Student
syoshiha@caltech.edu
Seiji joined the Space Structures Laboratory in 2024, after receiving his Master of Science in Space Engineering degree from Caltech. Prior to joining Caltech, Seiji earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) with a minor in Aerospace Sciences.
At UML, Seiji worked on the mechanical characterization of different knit textile structures and functionally graded adhesive composite joints. In addition to his research at UML, he also worked at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics studying a novel magnetic circuit for the mixer chips used in the Sub-Millimeter Array.
Seiji’s current research is focused on the development of novel embedded sensing systems for thin-shelled composites. He plans to use the system to understand the condition of space structures after deployment.
